College and Career Day
Wednesday, October 18, 2023
Early Release Minimum Day for Students and Staff

Start times vary by grade level. Please see below for specifics.

All students will be released no later than 12:30 pm, following the day’s activities.

School Food service will be available from 8-9 AM and from 12-1 PM
-
Parking will be at a premium. Please consider carpooling, walking, cycling or taking public transportation.
9th graders - College Field Trips
-
All ninth grade students will visit a local college campus via district transportation.

Since this is a class-wide field trip, all 9th graders will be participating and must have a completed permission slip on file. Click here to complete the permission slip to ensure your student is eligible to attend.

Students must arrive in their 1st period classroom no later than 8:30 am.

Ninth grade teachers and other staff will chaperone.

Please send your student with a light jacket/sweatshirt and an extra bottle of water/snack. (A light snack will be provided). The climate can vary greatly depending on the Bay Area campus your student will visit.

If your child has diabetes, seizures, food allergies, or any other serious medical conditions, please notify the health office at 650-322-5311 ext. 50129 ASAP and be sure your child has the appropriate medical supplies with him or her.

10th and 11th graders - PSAT

All 10th and 11th grade students are expected to participate.

Testing begins promptly at 9:15 am. Doors will close at 9:45 am after which students will not be permitted.

What to Bring:

Please bring your fully charged school chromebook or personal laptop, ID, calculator, & water bottle.

If you are using your Personal Laptop, please ensure the Blue Book App is already uploaded onto your device before testing day.

- Students may check out a calculator from the M-A library prior to the day of testing.

All tenth and eleventh graders will participate in the College Board PSAT exam, a program that provides firsthand practice for the SAT.
The benefits of participating in the PSAT are:

To receive feedback on your student's strengths and weaknesses regarding skills necessary for college preparedness.

To see how your student's performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to four-year institutions.

To help prepare your student for the SAT.

- Students must sign in at the front of the PAC theater between 8:30 am and 8:50 am.
- All twelfth graders will attend a keynote and two sessions, including career panels, featuring local professionals from a wide range of careers, and a college preparation workshop.
- It is our hope that students will get a better sense of possible career options and real-world applications of post-secondary training and college options.
- The Senior Panorama photo will be taken after Session 2.
ELD and ILS programs

Students in our ELD and ILS programs will attend college field trips along with the staff of those programs.

Día Mínimo para los Alumnos y Personal

Hora de entrada variará dependiendo del nivel de grado. Por favor vea hacia abajo para los detalles específicos.

Todos los estudiantes serán despedidos a más tardar a las 12:30 p.m., después de las actividades del día.

El estacionamiento será agotado. Por favor considere haciendo carpooling , caminar, tomar la bicicleta, o tomar transportación pública.
Alumnos del 9º Grado-Paseo de Colegios
- Todos los alumnos del 9º grado visitaran un campus de colegio por medio de transportación del distrito.
- Dado que es una gran excursión de la escuela, todos los estudiantes de 9º grado van a participar y deben tener un permiso completado en el archivo. ¡Por favor utilice el siguiente enlace para completar el formulario de permiso para que su estudiante esté al día!
- Alumnos deben llegar a su salón del 1er periodo lo más tardar las 8:30 a.m.
- Los maestros del 9º grado y otro personal servirán de chaperones.
- Por favor mande su alumno con un abrigo ligero/sudadera, y una botella de agua y un bocadillo. (Un bocadillo ligero será provisto). El clima puede variar bastante dependiendo de cuál campus de la Área de la Bahía visitará su alumno.
- ISi su hijo o hija tiene diabetes, convulsiones, ataques, alergias a ciertas comidas, o cualquier otra condición médica seria, por favor notifique a la oficina de salud lo más pronto posible al 650-322-5311 ext. 50129 y asegúrese que su hijo o hija tenga el equipo médico apropiado y/o medicamentos durante.
Alumnos del 10º y 11º Grado- PSAT
- Los alumnos deben llegar, lo más tardar, a las 8:45 a.m.
- Deben reportarse a su salón designado
- Todos los alumnos del 10º y 11º grado participaran en el examen de College Board PSAT, un programa que provee práctica de primera mano para el SAT.
Los beneficios de participar en el PSAT son:
- Recibirán información de las fortalezas y debilidades de su alumno respecto las habilidades necesarias para el estudio del colegio.
- Ver como el rendimiento de su alumno en el examen de entrada pudiera compararse con otros que también apliquen a una institución de cuatro años.
- Para preparar a su alumno para el SAT
Panelistas de Carrera del 12º Grado
- Alumnos deben llegar e inscribirse en frente del teatro PAC lo entre las 9:00 a.m. y 9:20 am.
- Todos los alumnos del 12º grado asistirán dos sesiones, lo que incluye panelistas que ofrecerán una gran variedad de profesionales de la localidad y un taller de preparación colegial.
- Esperamos que los alumnos obtengan una un sentido mejor de las posibles carreras y las aplicaciones del mundo real del entrenamiento después de la secundaria así como las opciones del colegio.
- Los alumnos podrán tener una bolsa personal que sea pequeña y una botella de agua. Se proveerá un refrigerio ligero. Los alumnos podrán traer un cuaderno para tomar notas!
- Se le recomienda llevar dechados impresos de sus ensayos para la universidad al comienzo de la mañana, ya que tendremos lectores expertos para proporcionar comentarios eficaces por escrito. Los dechados revisados estarán listos para que los estudiantes los recojan al mediodía o al final de la semana en el CCC (Centro de Colegios y Carreras).
Programas de ELD y ILS
- Los alumnos deben llegar lo más tardar a las 8:30 a.m.
- Los alumnos en nuestro programa de ELD y ILS podrán asistir los paseos de colegio con el personal de estos programas.
